Wabi Sabi Ceramic Workshop 21th April, starts this intensive seminar of a few hours … About Inspiration …. Where do you get the inspiration?
This is the question most often asked of me by students, acquaintances, journalists, a bit of everyone. And it is not easy to answer. In fact, as far as art is concerned, be it ceramics, painting or photography, it is not really something to inspire me, rather a feeling like the wabi sabi. So the more a color, a cloud, a moment or a glance, it is a special quid that captures me, to observe well it always has the same sound, like a note that reverberates. It is a temporal echo. Then, when I find inspiration I translate it and in this comes the culture of the image, the artistic culture, the years of study and practice come into play because, to see the hardest thing, it is precisely to take inspiration and bring it to the level. physical translate it. Be it a vase, a sculpture, a photographic shot or a color. It is about learning, studying, doing a lot of practice and then forgetting, finding your own personal and unique path as a secret ingredient. There are codes that correspond to me the most, I love for example the entire Dutch Masters and Italian Renaissance, I love the lights of Caravaggio, the still lifes, for the color all the abstract expressionism. For the ceramic I love the Korean and Japanese style, with the freedom of the gesture and the wabi sabi with the warmth, simplicity and refinement that it entails. Art is definitely my center, I am the language but inspiration is always a sensation or rather an emotion. During the workshop you learn the technique, but before listening to the suggestions, the sensations that the material inspires. A few hours to cut out the world and regenerate with the magic of clay.
